Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our help center. To make the planning of your project easier, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions regarding our laser-based manufacturing processes in Linz. Here you will find detailed information on our technical requirements, pricing frameworks, and the logistical workflows within our workshop.

Should you have a specific question about an individual project that is not answered here, our team is available via the contact page. Please note that all conditions mentioned here are subject to our general Terms and Conditions as well as our Privacy Policy.

Orders and Layouts

Which file formats do you require for laser cutting?

For precise execution, we prefer vector files (e.g., SVG, AI, or DXF). Vectors allow the laser to follow exact paths without any loss of quality. We can vectorize raster graphics such as JPG or PNG as part of our Layout Preparation service at a fee of 65 € per hour.

How does the layout approval process work?

After receiving your file, we create a digital draft. Final coordination of the layout is mandatory before the actual laser work begins. We only start production after your written approval of the sample to avoid material waste.

Is there a minimum order quantity or value?

Yes, to make the setup times of our machines economically viable, Barmiestqira applies a minimum order value of 25 €. This allows us to produce even small individual pieces with high precision.

Can I have my design adjusted by your team?

Absolutely. Our graphic designer can help you optimize your file. The costs for this are billed based on actual time spent (see service: Layout Preparation). This includes cleaning up double lines and adjusting cutting paths.

What happens if the layout needs to be changed after approval?

Changes after final approval and before the start of production are possible but may extend the delivery time. Once the laser process has started, changes to the layout are no longer possible as the material is already being processed.

Materials and Technology

Which materials can you process?

We utilize both CO₂ and Fiber laser technology. This allows us to work with a wide range of materials: wood (plywood, solid wood), leather, acrylic glass, various metals, and glass. A detailed overview can be found in our guide "Choosing the Right Material".

Do you process PVC or other plastics?

No. For safety and health reasons, we do not process materials containing chlorine, such as PVC. The combustion of such substances releases highly toxic gases that would endanger our filtration systems and the health of our team.

What is the maximum size of the workpieces?

Our maximum working area is 900 x 600 mm. Please ensure that your design, including safety margins, fits within these dimensions. For larger projects, we may be able to offer solutions through segmentation.

Is engraving on metal permanent?

Yes, Fiber laser engraving creates a permanent change in the material surface that is abrasion-resistant and does not fade. It is ideal for industrial markings or high-quality personalized gifts.

Can you process materials provided by the customer?

Generally yes, provided the material is laser-compatible and contains no hazardous additives. However, we assume no liability for the material quality or possible warping of customer-supplied workpieces.

Lead Times and Quality

How long does the production of a standard order take?

The average lead time is 5-7 days from final layout approval and payment of the deposit. The exact duration depends on the complexity and the current workload of our workshop.

Do you offer an express service?

Yes, for urgent projects, we can offer prioritization. A rush fee of 30% of the total price is charged for this. Please inquire about availability directly via our contact form.

How is the quality of the edges ensured during cutting?

We optimize laser parameters (speed and power) individually for every material. For acrylic, we achieve a polished, smooth cut edge through specific settings, while wood develops a characteristic dark seal.

Will I receive a preview of my product?

Yes, we send you a photo of the finished product after production, before it is made available for pickup or shipment. This ensures that the result meets your expectations.

What happens if the result does not match the specifications?

If the error occurred during our production and was not caused by faulty layout data or material properties, we will correct the product free of charge as part of our quality assurance.

Rights, Logos, and Copyright

Can I have any logo engraved?

We only perform work where the customer owns the rights to the design or has permission from the rights holder. We do not create copies of protected trademarks or logos without corresponding proof.

Who owns the rights to the created vector layout?

If we create the layout as part of our service, you will receive the final vector layout for your own use after full payment of the order.

Are the products suitable for commercial resale?

Yes, we frequently work with small businesses and designers. Please observe the applicable material certifications, especially if the products are used in the food sector.

How do you handle my personal data and designs?

All your data and designs are treated with strict confidentiality. Details on storage and processing can be found in our Privacy Policy in accordance with GDPR.

Payment and Conditions

What is the deposit for an order?

To secure material procurement and planning, we require a deposit of 50% of the estimated total value. The remaining balance is due upon completion or pickup.

What payment terms apply to business customers (B2B)?

For our B2B customers, we offer a payment term of 14 days after invoicing. However, the deposit regulation generally remains in place unless another agreement has been made.

Can I cancel an order?

Since our services are custom-made, cancellation after the start of production is not possible. Costs for laser work already performed and materials consumed will not be refunded in this case.

Are the prices inclusive of VAT?

In our price list, we list prices both gross (incl. 20% VAT) and net. For private customers, the final price including tax applies.

How is invoicing handled?

We issue our invoices digitally via email or upon pickup at our workshop in Linz. All documents comply with legal requirements for accounting.

We hope that this compilation has answered your questions. Remember that for all custom productions, our Terms and Conditions are authoritative. If you are unsure which material is best suited for your project, we recommend a quick look at our knowledge base or a direct inquiry.
