Precision Laser Cutting for Technical and Creative Projects
We transform flat material sheets into complex geometric shapes. Using advanced CO₂ laser technology in our Linz workshop, we produce cuts characterized by absolute dimensional accuracy and clean edges.
Laser cutting is a thermal separation process where a highly concentrated laser beam locally melts or vaporizes the material. Unlike mechanical milling processes, extremely narrow cut gaps are created, allowing us to produce delicate patterns, complex interlocking joints, and detailed technical components that would be impossible to realize with conventional methods.
In our workshop in Linz, we rely on a combination of precision and material expertise. Whether it is prototypes for architects, housings for electronic components, or decorative elements for interior design — we ensure that every cut is executed exactly according to your specifications. We pay particular attention to material tension and thermal stress to avoid warping and ensure optimal surface quality.
Your Path to the Finished Component: The Process
Data Verification
We analyze your vector file for closed paths and correct line weights to guarantee a continuous and seamless cutting process.
Material Selection
Selection of the appropriate sheet thickness and material type (e.g., acrylic or plywood) based on the planned mechanical load.
Laser Setup
Calibration of laser power and speed specifically for the material to achieve clean edges without excessive scorch marks.
Production & Cleaning
The actual cutting process, followed by careful removal of scrap material and a final dimensional quality control.
Who is our Laser Cutting service for?
Our services are aimed at a wide range of users who value millimeter precision. We specifically support:
- Industrial Designers and Engineers: For the rapid creation of functional prototypes and housing parts made of acrylic.
- Architects and Model Builders: For the production of detailed architectural models from plywood and cardboard.
- Creatives and Artisans: For the production of individual jewelry, lampshades, or complex ornamental pieces.
- Small Businesses: Who require customized brackets, displays, or organizational elements for their office equipment.
Technical Implementation and Workflow
The process begins with digital preparation. Since the laser follows a specific path, vector data is mandatory. In our Linz workshop, we use CO₂ lasers, which are ideal for organic materials like wood and plastics like PMMA (acrylic). The laser beam is focused through a lens, creating an extremely high energy density at a single point.
We place special emphasis on "cutting optimization" (nesting). We arrange your parts on the material sheet in such a way that waste is minimized, which reduces material costs for you. For acrylic glass, we use techniques to prevent melt beads on the edges, so that the parts have a smooth, often polished-looking surface immediately after cutting.
Preparation: What you should provide
To ensure smooth production and a short lead time of 5-7 days, the quality of the provided data is crucial. Please prepare your documents as follows:
- File Format: Preferred as .DXF, .SVG, or .AI. Please ensure that all text has been converted to paths/outlines.
- Color Coding: Distinguish cut lines (e.g., Red) and engraving lines (e.g., Black) using different colors or layers.
- Scale: Files must be provided in a 1:1 scale. Please explicitly state the desired material thickness in the order.
- Overlaps: Avoid double lines on the same path, as the laser would otherwise cut this area twice, leading to burn marks.
If your files are not optimized, we offer professional Layout Preparation to eliminate errors in production.
The Result: What you receive
Upon completion of the manufacturing process, you will receive your components in secure packaging. Depending on the project, the result includes:
- Precisely cut individual parts or assemblies from the chosen material.
- For complex projects: An assembly instruction or a sketch for joining the parts.
- The final vector file (provided that the layout preparation was performed and paid for by us).
- A detailed protocol of the material thicknesses used for your records.
Lead Times and Scheduling
Our average lead time is 5-7 working days from the final approval of the layout and receipt of the deposit. This timeframe includes material procurement and actual machine time. In urgent cases, we offer express processing, which is charged with a surcharge of 30% on the total price.
Please note that lead times may vary for very large quantities or extremely complex geometries. We coordinate schedules closely with you to ensure timely availability at our workshop in Linz.
Limitations: What we do NOT produce
For safety and quality reasons, there are materials and applications that we do not process:
- PVC and chlorine-containing plastics: These release highly toxic gases and aggressive hydrochloric acid when lasered, which would destroy our machinery.
- Polycarbonate (PC): This material tends to burn heavily and produce soot during cutting, resulting in an unclean finish.
- Copyrighted Logos: We do not cut brand logos without written permission from the rights holder.
- Documents and Official Identification: Any form of forgery of certificates or manipulation of official signs is strictly rejected.
Pricing and Value Added Tax
Our prices are calculated transparently based on material costs, machine runtime, and manual effort. We charge our services per sheet (A3) or based on individual effort. All stated prices include the statutory VAT of 20%.
For business customers (B2B), we list prices net. Payment is made according to our terms and conditions within 14 days of invoicing. Please note that a deposit of 50% is required for all orders before we begin production.
| Material (A3 Sheet) | Price incl. 20% VAT | Price excl. VAT | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plywood 3mm | 18.00 € | 15.00 € | per sheet |
| Acrylic 3mm | 24.00 € | 20.00 € | per sheet |
Note: Prices apply to standard materials. Special foils or sheet thicknesses over 5mm are calculated individually. Details on cancellation can be found in our Terms.
Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Cutting
What is the maximum sheet thickness you can cut?
By default, we process materials up to a thickness of 6-8 mm. For thicker materials, multiple passes or special procedures are often required, which we quote individually. Please contact us for a feasibility check.
Can I bring my own material?
Generally yes, provided it is laser-suitable material and we know the exact composition. However, we assume no liability for material defects or unexpected reactions during the laser process with third-party materials.
What is the tolerance for laser cutting?
Our machines operate with a precision in the range of 0.1 to 0.2 mm. Please consider the laser cut width (kerf) in your designs, which is approximately 0.1 to 0.3 mm depending on the material.
Are the edges smooth after cutting?
For acrylic glass, very smooth, glossy edges are created due to melting. For wood, there is a characteristic dark scorch mark on the cut edge, which is inherent to the material and often used as a design element.
